After over 10 years the undisputed queen and mashup master Robin Skouteris switched things up and broke out of the yearly cycle to create another epic piece. Enjoy his genius and dance, you’re welcome.
There are more mashup artists who deserve more attention like adamusic
At the end of our last teacher training one of our students reminded us all: we don’t do that enough:

on land and in water is currently in a poor state
This story is inspired by and in parts taken from the „mission value“ newsletter, March 15, 2024, that I highly recommend.
is a huge biological puzzle. It refers not only to all species on the planet, but also the space they inhabit on land, on and under water. In particular, it is about the closely interwoven network of plants, animals, fungi, bacteria and their interactions.
This provides us humans with almost everything we need: clean air and water, food, raw materials. Biodiversity forms the basis for us humans to function, that we are well, that our economy can function. The more diversity, the more variety, the more resilient the ecosystems themselves are.
This month, the EU Parliament passed the Nature Restoration Law. According to the regulation, at least 20% of the continent’s land and sea areas must be restored, i.e. renaturalised, by 2030. In simple terms, this means that we humans, politicians and businesses are responsible for ensuring that the productive diversity lost through industrial cultivation, drainage, littering and toxic substances – such as pesticides – is renewed across the board.
Science clearly states that protective measures are overdue. Exploitation and intensive utilisation are causing enormous damage. 69% of the populations of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and 80% of all insects have completely disappeared in the last 50 years. The area of „true wilderness“ is now just under 2.9% of the planet. It used to be a multiple of that. Science calls this the „sixth mass extinction“ in the history of the planet.
Ecosystems filter our water. Coastal wetlands in turn, with salt marshes, mangroves and seagrass meadows, bind around half of the carbon contained in the sediments of the oceans. Bees and other endangered insects do a crucial job: the production of over 75% of the world’s food depends on pollination. 90% of all wild plants on earth also depend on them.
The EU’s Green Deal, the path to a climate-neutral and competitive economy by 2050, will not work without the Nature Restoration Law. It is embedded in global goals: in 2022, heads of state and government signed the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Thanks to this declaration of intent, 30% of the world’s land and water should be protected by 2030 and 30% of the world’s ecosystems should be restored. The GBF is considered to be of similar importance to the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015.
For companies protecting and renewing biodiversity is a real investment – with considerable returns. Studies show: Every Euro invested in systemic restoration produces an ecological added value of 8€. And all these measures would also have a positive impact on disaster prevention, climate protection – and our health.
Proactive entrepreneurial measures towards a functioning circular economy, effective waste management and the avoidance of environmental, air and soil pollution can take effect more quickly – and send motivating signals to the surrounding economy and politics.
Even if it remains difficult to effectively measure eco-services and distribute price tags due to the small-scale interplay, acting to preserve and restore biodiversity is politically indispensable and economically crucial. Measurement tools are now available, thanks to innovative start-ups such as Nala.

Let’s go!
Last year we went to the queer job and career fair Sticks & Stones in Berlin for the first time. And we travelled there in style.
The atmosphere is unlike any other job and career fair I’ve ever seen. The people are themselves- very much like the motto: “WORK WHERE YOU ARE CELEBRATED, NOT WHERE YOU ARE TOLERATED”. At the same time I’ve heard in conversations with people that some companies are good with their communication, while having room for improvement.
For the first time yesterday the fair was held in Cologne, and I went there again. Knowing the drill by now, I went directly to the coaching registration desk and secured my spot with a diversity and career coach. I enjoyed that session a lot and received valuable feedback and inspiration.
The gap between communication and action is very real and the process of looking for inclusive projects and employers can feel very lonely. This fair shows you, that the struggle is real, that different people have very different struggles and most importantly: you are not alone.
The speakers, coaches and exhibitors are an inspiration that we as a society and the working world is moving into an inclusive direction where diversity is celebrated- it is the fair’s motto and mine.
The fair will be bigger, more colourful and more diverse when they return to Berlin on 28 & 29 JUNE 2024. Get your free ticket HERE and join the movement.
Ab 3. Januar fliegen wir wieder mit Dir.
And, action!
There was enough time for thinking in 2023. Enough time for recurring thoughts, resignation and delusion. We are thinking giants and implementation dwarfs. About time for action- and at the same time my new year’s resolution:
Time for ACTION!
As I set the direction for the next 365 days, inclusion and sustainability are my focus. Our daily actions determine the trajectory and tiny choices add up over time- exponential growth. It is estimated that we make 35,000 choices per day. Most people sleep around seven hours a day, that makes roughly 2,000 decisions per hour or one decision every two seconds. It does not matter if the figures are correct, you can change things with your actions every two seconds! And I’ve learned that there are over 70 elections worldwide in 2024 where decisions are VERY important.
Your choices matter!
Herstory will not care about your excuses and the things you did NOT do. The quality of your actions are determined by your goals. Always ask WHAT you want to achieve for whom? „Achieving more“ and „doing something digital“ are no goals. They do provide no answer to WHAT you want to achieve. Growth is a statistic and it has certain effects. Digital processes with data and sensors provide input for decisions. The best data and the best digital processes without an actual purpose can have a good, bad or no impact. Always ask WHO is benefitting from the goal and who is left out or harmed?
Question the goals, set inclusive & sustainable goals
In nature we call it seasons, in companies we call it circular economy. Think about what happens before, during and after you use certain products and services. Especially when you design products and services, apply circular design principles.
Follow the natural flow
Respect yourself, others and the planetary boundaries. You can monitor the progress across ten critical objectives and their key results (OKRs) HERE. With the current status of these OKRs there should be more action plans, rules and regulations in place. Here is my friendly reminder: we are thinking giants and implementation dwarfs.
Think less- do more!
Last but not least: Be kind to yourself, others and nature. Make mistakes, learn from them, correct them. Inspire yourself and others. Apologise and have fun along the way.
Play and have fun
Wishing you all a healthy and peaceful 2024 full of action.
